About The Sourdough Nut

Hi! I'm a homeschooling mother of six, and I've been on a sourdough journey that has transformed the way our family eats. What started as a curiosity about traditional bread-making has turned into a passion for creating recipes that are both healthy and irresistibly delicious.
In a family of seven, I need recipes that are practical, affordable, and crowd-pleasing. That's why every recipe on this site has been tested by my toughest critics — my kids. If it passes their test, I know it's worth sharing.
Why Sourdough?
I'm passionate about sourdough because of the incredible health benefits of long fermentation. When flour is fermented with a sourdough starter, the natural acids break down the phytic acid and pre-digest the sugars in the flour. This means:
- •Better digestibility — many people who struggle with regular bread find sourdough much easier on their stomachs
- •Lower glycemic index — the pre-digested sugars mean less of a blood sugar spike
- •Better nutrient absorption — breaking down phytic acid unlocks minerals in the flour
- •Incredible flavor — there's nothing like the taste of properly fermented bread
Our Philosophy
I believe that homemade food brings families together. Cooking is an act of love, and sharing a meal you made from scratch is one of the most meaningful things you can do for the people you care about.
My recipes are designed for real life. Many of them use overnight fermentation, which means you do a little work the night before and wake up to dough that's ready to go. It's like a gift to your morning self.
Thank you for being here. I hope these recipes bring as much joy to your kitchen as they have to mine!
